Let's talk about lower level sport performance in the form of supplements we get over the counter, pre workout , post workout, pills, powders.. The whole lot! How healthy are they?
Well in my opinion, long term they are not, especially as most of them are synthetic. And if you thought protein powder was "natural" think again! The dehydration process is it self pushed through a host of chemicals... But yes there are a few natural ones there and they would be the safest .
Moving onto kids/ adolescents foods and diets! What are they exposed to for performance? A coloured drink boasting of enhanced performance? Really? With the amount of sugar and colours they add the only thing that will be enhanced is the break down of ligament and tendon tensile strength. In my opinion that along with the enhanced breakfast cereals and foods are equally on my list of enhanced injury substances ..think about it.. If the foods our kids are eating and drinking, would be healthy, would we have the rates of obesity we have?
The above thoughts are not to dissuade you from enjoying the unearthly sins, but just to make you aware, just like low fat ( high sugar) is really worse for you...so find the balance and enhance your life.. Remember inner health , mental and spiritual are important too...
